In the original version, 'do' was not used in 'what did you there'. The melody associated with the song was first recorded by James William Elliott in his nursery rhymes collection.

Pussy Cat Pussy Cat Lyrics

Pussy cat, pussy cat, where have you been?

I've been to London to look at the Queen,

Pussy cat, pussy cat, what did you do there?

I frightened a little mouse under her chair.
